The Housing Locator/Landlord Liaison is responsible for sourcing and developing relationships with local landlords to participate in CUPS Key Case Management housing program. This position works closely with Key Case Workers and their clients, assessing individual client needs and sourcing appropriate rental units. The Housing locator/landlord liaison will act as a support for the landlord/tenant relationships by supporting the initial rental process and navigate potential conflicts or issues that arise throughout the tenancy.
**Leadership**:
- Develops and maintains strong community and landlord partnerships across city to engage them in the Key Case Management program, including developing private market and affordable housing opportunities for CUPS clients in the community.
- Collaborates with other CUPS staff and programs to develop and maintain consistency across housing processes, approaches and communication practices.
- Engage with landlords to provide information and education regarding housing processes following the RTA and internal policies and procedures.
- Expertly navigate conflicts upholding the integrity, dignity and needs of all parties involved
- Facilitate a healthy and safe work environment through learning and enacting all CUPS health & safety protocols, while maintaining an active awareness of clients and colleagues
- Promote a culture that reflects CUPS vision, mission, philosophies and values
- Create the conditions for program improvement by fostering a culture of reflection and learning.
**Organizational Alignment and Performance**:
- Provide effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders to support the best outcomes for clients.
- Support client transition to permanent housing via accompanying client and landlord for initial walk-throughs, lease signing, assist in coordination of external supports when needed
- Working in concert with Case Managers and agency staff, support the achievement and maintenance of housing stability via regular check-ins, team meetings, and triaging of information related to housing information
- Accurately enter all required data points in organizational & external databases regarding initial intake, assessments, communications, and outcomes. Track and support reporting on housing information, including client move-ins, move-outs, lease tracking, rental rates/changes, moves, arrears, and other information as required.
- Provide integrated, wrap around support for clients by working in concert with Key Case workers, attending case conferences, liaising with other community programs to connect clients to further resources
**Stakeholder Relations**:
- Develop and maintain collaborative and accountable working relations with internal CUPS colleagues to strengthen communication flow and cross-program understanding
- Provide caring, reliable, trauma-informed care to all clients accessing CUPS to reduce barriers to service and increase community trust
- Share experience and knowledge with students, volunteers and guests interested in CUPS services to further develop CUPS social justice impact & external ambassador network
- Troubleshoot strategies and practices that support landlords through information sharing and education about CUPS programs.
- Support CUPS staff involvement in eviction prevention strategies and practices, supporting all stakeholder’s active involvement.
**Background required**:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services (Social Work/Psychology) with 2-3 year experience **or*Diploma in Human Services with 3-5 years’ experience within the vulnerable sector
- In-depth knowledge of Calgary social and government services, with previous experience working with Alberta Works, AISH and Calgary Housing
- Excellent conflict resolution & problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in managing high conflict discussions
- Previous experience working in independent/outreach positions preferred
