**Job Description**:
Each Health & Wellness Education Coordinator will have an area of focus that they are responsible in leading. However, it is expected that these roles work collaboratively to support programming across all areas of focus. The areas of focus are general health (e.g., health promotion campaigns, physical health and fitness, sleep hygiene and stress management, etc.), mental health (e.g., stress management, self-care, Umbrella Project), and culturally inclusive sexual health (e.g., healthy relationships, diverse populations such as LGBTQ+ & Indigenous students, Project Lighthouse, etc.). These are the general buckets of work, but sub-topics will evolve according to health & wellness needs of our students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Remains current with health and wellness literature to ensure relevant, timely and evidence-informed programming;- Plans, coordinates, and delivers health and wellness events and activities;- Participates in College events such as AC Day 1, Campus Village, etc. to distribute educational material, promote mental health & wellness supports, generate awareness, etc.;- Participates in quality improvement and program evaluation of the activities within their area of focus;- Collects and reports stats for dashboard metrics;- Coordinates the delivery of educational seminars and workshops;- Participates in relevant committees (e.g., Mental Health Steering Committee, Spiritual Centre Committee, etc.);- Responsible for the inventory management and allocation of promotional material;- Coordinates a team of students (Health & Wellness Promoters) which includes assisting with recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and overseeing work, support, and student leadership development. Escalates issues to Manager when required;- Ensures student health & wellness promoter timesheets are correct prior to approval by the Manager;- Provides guidance to Health & Wellness Promoters on what information to disseminate in the activities.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of student development, support services, adult learning, and assessment;-
- Ability to effectively facilitate and consult (e.g., with other departments, students, and outside agencies);- Ability to communicate effectively, through writing and editing, interpersonal approaches, presentations, and facilitation;- Ability to manage time and resources to ensure deadlines/standards are met;- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.);- Ability to work within a complex environment, with diverse populations, and be self-aware;- Ability to take initiative with communications and recommendations for improvement;- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a three (3) year diploma/degree or equivalent in health care or related field;- Minimum of five (5) years related experience;- A background in community engagement and outreach is an asset;- Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset;- Understanding the health care needs of a diverse post-secondary student population is an asset;- Experience with event planning is an asset.
