**Wage**: $16.55/hour

**What do you offer?**

The Otonabee Inclusion Camp Counsellor provides 1-on-1 support to children and youth with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, and support to other counsellors with other groups of children and youth. The Camp Inclusion Counsellor ensures that children and teens have a positive experience leading to personal growth through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs.

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Providing 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 support to children with special needs.
- Assisting in developing program inclusion strategies to create a positive experience for all campers.
- Managing behavioural incidents and implementing behavioural redirection strategies as necessary.
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Acting as a resource to camp staff for inclusive programming.

**Education**
- High School Diploma and/or Post-Secondary Education
- Educational background and work experience with children with disabilities and their families

**Language**
- Ability to work in English
- Bilingualism is an asset

**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification
- General experience working in a day camp or overnight camp setting is an asset
- Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with campers, members, staff, and volunteers
- Ability to maintain calm demeanour in stressful situations
- Ability to provide behaviour management of campers
- Ability to give first priority to the campers’ needs

**Additional Requirements**
- Must be 16 years old by June 24, 2024.
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
