Employee Absence Coordinator

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Human Resource Services, the Employee Absence Coordinator is responsible to manage and maintain the DSBN’s employee absence management system, including identifying replacement staff and recording employee absences so that all locations are adequately staffed to deliver the Boards services. This role also processes and records all miscellaneous absence requests, assists with administrative duties, acts as a resource for various teams and employees.
**Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to**:
Manage the operation of the employee absence system ensuring that all mandatory positions are filled with properly skilled replacements to deliver Board services;
Act as a resource for Administrators and Supervisors with regards to replacement coverage and appropriate coding;
Assisting with the replacement of long term occasional (LTO) assignments for both teaching and support staff.
Provide administrative support services to HR Services staff;
Provide support to the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board claim process to generate accurate claim records and compensation;
Provide staffing support as needed during peak staffing times;
Assist with recruitment and retention strategies;
Other duties as assigned;
Communication skills, including problem solving and conflict resolution;
Relationship building and promotion of a collaborative culture with all Board staff and Unions/Federations;
Computer skill, including Microsoft Office 365, data management, excel and access;
Experience in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS);
Thorough knowledge of Board Administrative Policies and Procedures, Collective Agreements, Human Rights Act, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPA), other related employment laws and regulations;
**Qualifications include**:
A three-year Community College Diploma, or qualifications deemed equivalent by the Board;
Minimum of two (2) years general office experience;
Professional designation such as but not limited to Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/L), Human Resources Certificate, is preferred;
Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
Proficiency using Human Resources Information Systems;
Education sector experience and experience in a multi-union setting considered an asset;
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) within the Board’s Administrative Management Group which includes a competitive wage rate ($54,944-$64,337) and a comprehensive benefits package.
