Are you passionate about enhancing writing skills and academic success across campus? Join us as our new **Coordinator, Writing Centre and Tutor Services**

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and execute enterprise-wide services to improve writing skills across campus. These services include coordinating the writing tutor services (both undergraduate and graduate), training tutors, and dealing with day to day administrative and management matters. The coordinator also maintains and updates online writing and academic support resources, runs a writing lab that serves both the Arts Transition and Arts Qualifying year students, delivers in-class workshops at the request of faculty, and meets with faculty to provide discipline-specific resources when needed. The coordinator organizes and runs the Summer Bridge Program and trains students to assist. The coordinator also runs the Student Success Centre’s mathematics and statistics tutoring program. Finally, the coordinator also works with the federated colleges and the OMA program to provide support when needed.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Interview, hire, manage, schedule and mentor writing tutors for undergraduate students and graduate students, as well as mathematics and statistics tutors.
- Develop and deliver discipline-specific writing workshops for students within the Student Success Centre and within the wider university in response to faculty requests.
- Deliver Academic Transition Program writing labs.
- Coordinate Summer Bridge Program with the English Department.
- Develop and maintain a host of academic writing resources that are available online for students.
- Sit on various campus and faculty committees focused on writing.

Position Requirements

**What You’ll Bring to this Position**:

- Ph.D. in English or a related field (preferred).
- 5 to 7 years of teaching experience
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role**:

- Experience managing student employees’
- Experience working with different faculties and disciplines
- Experience managing a post-secondary level writing centre
- Experience teaching English 100 specifically to meet the needs of writing lab students
- Experience teaching upper-level and graduate students to assist students in written projects across all levels of their education.
- Advanced teaching experience, especially at the U of R, to understand the needs of our specific and very diverse student body.
- Knowledge of student development theory
- Advanced knowledge of writing techniques - including those necessary to produce Ph.D. dissertations - across several fields.
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of composition in general
- Up to date with best practices in teaching, including instructing those who might be struggling not only with writing, but with the English language in general.
- Knowledge about best practices in student support.

Pay Grade APT 5 Salary Range $69,655 to $94,007 Status Term Work Hours

Monday to Friday; 8:15 am to 4:30 pm with occasional evening work.
