We provide an outstanding guest experience to visitors from around the world through our galleries, tours, classroom and family-friendly activities and programs, and public events.
Our vision is to be a place of discovery, exploration, reflection, and reconciliation.
Position Overview
Projected start date - November 4, 2024. There will be a break in December to accommodate time off for holidays.
The RCMP Heritage Centre is seeking an energetic, positive and proactive individual for the position of Community Program Project Coordinator. The Community Program Project Coordinator will support a partnership project between the RCMP Heritage Centre and two community partners. The outcomes of this project will be a week of public and classroom anti-racism programming during Black History Month. Through theatre performance, and interactive learning, the program will help classroom participants understand concepts like the different types of racism, bias, discrimination, and allyship. The program will enhance the participants’ ability to identify and address discrimination in their day to day lives.
In this role, you will help coordinate this project, bring the partners together, and learn to capture, implement, and report on key project millstones. You will learn about working in the cultural/heritage sector, working in non-profits, project management and administration of a project from beginning to successful completion, creating and executing partnerships, working with internal and external clients, and making community connections. You will bring creativity and problem solving to the project and participate in the idea-generation and idea development through the development of the program. During the program, you will assist with the event set-up and supporting the Centre’s education programming team.
This position is partially funded by the Government of Canada’s Young Canada Works program. You are not required to have your own device - a laptop will be supplied to you for the duration of your internship.
**Responsibilities**:
- Reporting to the Manager of Admin and Operations, you will be the project coordinator for our Black History Month classroom program;

- You will use problem solving and critical thinking skills to come up with and pose solutions and ideas;
- Collaborate with different internal teams like our Visitor Services team, marketing and communications, programming, and admin for their support in the project;
- You will play an important role in assisting the programming team to execute the week of classroom programming, including event set up and tear down;
- You will be responsible for creating a project wrap up report that details the steps of the project, an assessment of what went well, and areas for growth for next year;
- Other duties as assigned.
