**Position Summary**
This role supports and advises across targeted levels of the College on safety legislation compliance and best practices for employees and students. As well, this position contributes to the creation, implementation and administration of safety policies, procedures, processes, programs, metrics and training. The Health and Safety Coordinator is the support role for all Joint Health and Safety Committees across campuses and is responsible for working with HS Consultants, co-chairs, committee members to provide occupational safety resourcing to ensure safe campuses for our community.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide general support to Health and Safety Consultants at various campuses and satellite sites where required.
- Monitors regulatory changes and advises the College about new compliance requirements in a team environment.
- On occasion accompany various inspectors from external health and safety agencies during college inspections
- Acts as a resource to all campuses JHSC’s which work may include hazard identification, statistics, training scheduling and response to general inquiries.
- Direct support and supplemental connection to the work performed by the HS Consultants.
- Identify occupational health and safety resource materials and other creative learning tools to raise awareness of and educate the college community about health and safety. This may be done in partnership with the knowledge development group or other within the college.
- Assists with coordination of the training calendar and compiling feedback from the participants. May deliver some targeted training (e.g. hazard training, ladders etc.) and job specific modules or programs.
- Supporting the ongoing development of the safety management system by participating in a developing safety management system process. This may include liaising with internal or external stakeholders that support the colleges goal of continued safety improvements.
- Monitors the external environment and plans for opportunities and challenges (ex., proposed regulatory changes). Participating in an internal review where required.
- In a team setting, support developing policy, procedures and guidelines that support compliance parallel reviews when required.
- Supporting the ongoing development of the safety management system by participating in a developing safety management system process. This may include liaising with internal or external stakeholders that support the colleges goal of continued safety improvements.
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Three (3) year Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and/or related field (Environmental Science, Human Resources, Kinesiology, etc.) and/or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
- 3 years’ experience in conducting risk analysis, inspections and audits including preparing assessment reports.
- Experience in assessing policy and regulatory requirements and in the methods and procedures for ensuring compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Labour/Workplace Safety Insurance Board/Safety Data Sheet requirements, other Federal, Provincial and Local laws and ordinances governing Occupational Health and Safety.
- Specialization and professional designation in Health and Safety such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional).
- Knowledge of international, federal, provincial and municipal legislation/regulations and best practices.
- Must possess a valid G level driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as frequent travel is required between campuses and satellite sites
- Ability to analyse problems, identify relationships and develop solutions.
