Regina, Canada Nova Paving (Sask) Ltd. Full time

Nova Paving (Sask) Ltd. is a well-established construction company based in Regina, Saskatchewan working in the heavy civil construction industry. We are currently seeking applicants for the role of Equipment Operator.

Reporting to the Site Foreman and Project Management Team, this position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner consistent with company values, policies and procedures.

The position runs annually from May to November and we are hiring now

**Roles and responsibilities**:

- Checking heavy equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance's.
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the Site Foreman in order to facilitate prompt correction and reporting.
- Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
- Identify defects in heavy duty equipment.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work on site as required.
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
- Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to Site Foreman or other operators.
- Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma.
- Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certificate considered to be an asset.
- At least 5+ years experience.
- Valid drivers license with reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Knowledge of construction equipment safety.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and must be able to work with little supervision or as a member of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.

Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.
