- Participates in Strategic Planning, Accreditation and Quality Management
- Maintains safety at the workplace by reporting all hazards and working to prevent illness or injury.
- Assists Program Director in planning; implementing and ongoing evaluation of recreational services.
- Participates in all manatory staff training.
- Plans and organizes the volunteer program responding to residents’ identified strengths, needs and interests. Identifies with the multidisciplinary team and Program Director, where volunteers can be utilized within the organization.
- Provide on-going documentation, guidance, support, education and monitoring of volunteers and placement student progress.
- Provides a variety of volunteer opportunities for residents based on resident assessments and the needs determined within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provides ongoing volunteer appreciation and service awards
- Provides educational opportunities to volunteers and residents
- Provides volunteer performance evaluations
- Maintains recording of monthly recreation and volunteer statistics
- A diploma or degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies and/or Gerontology from a recognized College or University
- Minimum 1-2 years related experience.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook, MAC
- Previous volunteer management experience working with seniors and volunteers in the community services sector
- Community Sector Health & Safety Certification Training an asset
- Demonstrated customer service, and a solutions-based approach to problem-solving
- Proven interpersonal skills appropriate to build positive rapport with various referral sources and to professionally represent the organization and its models of care.
- Promotes a cooperative working environment.
- Some evening or weekend work for special events and meetings is needed
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Good judgment, adaptability and willingness to work.
- A satisfactory Criminal Police Check -it will be required at your own expense at the time of hiring.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the aging process and related issues.
- Ability to self direct, and work in an evolving and fluid environment
- Demonstrated initiative and assertiveness.
- Ability to meet multiple priorities in a timely and efficient manner.
- Valid “G” class Ontario Driver’s license and a valid insurance, required to take seniors on outings and trips using our company minivan.
- Professional membership with TRO an asset
- Ability to speak Italian an asset

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

**Salary**: $24.00 per hour
