Reporting to the Manager, International Student Recruitment, the Lead, National Student Recruitment provides support for OCAD University’s (OCAD U) undergraduate student recruitment strategies, programs, and services for domestic and international learners in Ontario and Canada. The Lead, National Student Recruitment represents OCAD U at various recruitment functions in-person and virtually, develops communication materials to provide information and counseling to future OCAD U students, and supports the university in accomplishing its strategic enrolment goals. The Lead also oversees a team of contract staff who support the building and holding of relationships with the OCAD U community, the secondary education sector, student recruitment agencies, and other communities to leverage opportunities for prospective students and learners to engage with OCAD U’s programs and campus.

**Summary of Responsibilities**:

- Participate in overall strategic Admissions & Recruitment (A&R) planning including programming, events, and communications
- Work closely with the Manager, International Student Recruitment, departmental staff, OCAD U students, faculty and staff to ensure up-to-date knowledge of all student recruitment programs, policies, procedures, and admission requirements
- Expand and execute recruitment strategies for the onshore international student population in Canada
- Represent OCAD U as a liaison at various virtual and in-person recruitment events (e.g. high school visits, presentations and panels, university/pathways fairs, portfolio reviews etc.) across Ontario and Canada (and internationally as required) providing all necessary information about the University (e.g. admissions information, academic entrance requirements, portfolio building support, scholarship information, campus and Toronto life, etc.)
- Oversee and lead a team of yearly contract recruitment staff including the hiring, training/onboarding of new staff, planning/logistics of schedules and events, and time entry and approval
- Plan, participate in and measure the effectiveness of all recruitment initiatives in Ontario and Canada by recording and compiling reports submitted by contract staff through the Client Relation Management (CRM) databases
- Initiate, organize, schedule and assign/attend independent school visits and respond to ad hoc requests for OCAD U liaison visits, workshops, events, and programs
- Oversee, track and report on budget and staff time related to all recruitment activities in Ontario and Canada
- Work with and compile databases of departmental contacts and relationships including high schools (teachers/counsellors/educators), higher education institutions, recruitment agencies, industry and community partners
- Review portfolios online and attend in-person portfolio reviews events in support of admissions decisions
- Work closely with the A&R team to assist in planning, developing and implementing student recruitment initiatives, programming, and special projects (e.g. Open Houses, portfolio review events, etc.)
- Represent OCAD U in various inter-university recruitment committees and networks (e.g. Ontario University General Committee Student Recruitment, Art & Design Universities Canada etc.) and maintain up-to-date knowledge of post-secondary student recruitment trends and practices
- Ensure that recruitment activities are consistent with established structures and policies, as well as standards of quality and customer service
- Contribute to the development of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility (DEIA) strategies throughout all recruitment programs, services and communications
- Assist the Manager, International Student Recruitment in other related tasks that contribute to the successful operation of the A&R office

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree or equivalent, preferably in fine art & design
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressive post-secondary student recruitment, student services or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Ontario, Canadian and international secondary and post-secondary school systems
- A demonstrated strength and comfort with public speaking and an ability to present detailed information clearly and promote the university in a positive manner
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty
- Proven judgment, diplomacy, tact and strong interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills
- Excellent research and analytical skills, and demonstrated organization and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work well independently, as a team member, and a team leader with the capacity to handle diverse tasks in a busy and varied enviro
