**Position Description**

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Risk Manager is responsible for entrenching risk management practices within Science World. They will lead change with risk governance, risk management, and control process improvements throughout the organization. The Risk Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying, prioritizing, and ensuring strategic risk is appropriately treated. This role is new and requires a proactive, collaborative individual, able to build and maintain strong relationships.

As a facility, Science World is generally open to the public seven days a week, with some extended evening hours in the summer months. Typical office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm, with front-facing and operational teams also working a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays and evenings. Hours of work and other related requirements will be scheduled according to business needs and this may include special events on evenings, weekends and holidays.

**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the execution and monitoring of the risk management program
- Ensure the organization has appropriate risk policies
- Establish strong relationships throughout the organization and provide guidance on risk related issues and risk management
- Lead the identification of possible risks that could impact Science World meeting its strategic objectives
- Manage the risk assessment process with risk owners in a collaborative approach, including the development of effective mitigation strategies to reduce risk to acceptable levels
- Maintain a comprehensive record of identified risks, assessments, and mitigation strategies in a risk register
- Monitor in real time changes in the organizations risk profile arising from changes in legal, economic, technological, societal, geopolitical and environmental factors
- Create a periodic risk report for the Senior Leadership Team, Finance Risk and Audit Committee and the Board
- Develop and deliver risk education and awareness programs to instill a risk culture
- In the event of a crisis or unexpected event, assist in coordinating the organization’s response and actions to mitigate the impact of the crisis
- Oversee the organization’s comprehensive insurance program
- Perform other related duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role

**Qualifications**
- A degree in business with a focus in risk management, economics or finance is required
- 5+ years of recent risk management and/or internal audit experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management program management
- Risk Management certification or working towards one
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to identify, assess and quantify risks effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Effective communication skills and able to convey complex information in a clear understandable manner
- Able to build relationships through respect and authenticity, and to collaborate with colleagues
- Able to respond to new challenges and adjust risk management strategies accordingly
- Established professional values including sound judgment, integrity, and being tenaciously driven to achieve results; and
- Able to work with mínimal supervision

The pay range for this position is $85,000-$105,000 per year.
