The Manager, Student Wellbeing will oversee Algoma University’s holistic student wellness framework to ensure equitable, diverse, and inclusive support for all students. The incumbent will be responsible for setting strategic priorities, managing staff, and ongoing planning and implementation to meet institutional strategic objectives. These objectives include, but not limited to, collaboration with internal departments to improve overall student success, student retention, and graduation, community outreach, establishing partnerships and collaborating with other departments to develop, plan, and deliver cross-cultural training initiatives as defined in Algoma’s Special Mission. Alongside the Director, Student Success & Wellbeing, the Manager will oversee the monitoring and implementation of the University’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, focused on ensuring students receive timely and appropriate services and support, on and off campus, as part of the overall Student Success strategy at Algoma University. This role will also oversee mental health and wellness grants, and any other related budget items specific to this portfolio. The incumbent will also be responsible for the development and revision of policies, as needed.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Student Health and Wellness (60%)**
- Lead, develop and foster a holistic approach to student wellness, including accountability for strategic leadership, planning, development, evaluation, operational management, and administration of student health, wellness, and counseling services
- Ensure wellness programs and services are delivered equitably across all campuses and are responsive to the diverse needs of students
- Implement a Mental Health Strategy for the University with metrics that demonstrate continuous improvements in key areas of student success and wellbeing, trauma informed and through an equity, diversity and inclusion lens
- Ensure student centered wellness services are responsive to the needs of direct and non-direct entrants, under-represented groups (e.g. Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIPA+), international students, and students with accessibility needs
- Ensure adequate training, policy, and procedure around student safety and academic success plans and complex cases
- Accountable for all Ministry funding and grants related to student mental health and wellness, including, but not limited to Mental Health Services Grant, Mental Health Worker Grants, and Campus Safety grant
- Develop and lead campus-wide response planning for incidents concerning student wellness
- Develop University policies and procedures related to student wellness and campus responses, informed by culturally safe practice and principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

**Community Partnership & Support Services (30%)**
- Responsible for the design, development, and execution of strategic work plans including communications strategy, community engagement, and networking with Indigenous communities, newcomer support, service providers, and businesses to promote education and training
- Work collaboratively with internal and external departments including SRSC, SKG, Mukwa Waakaa’igan, AARC, SASA, AUSU, Student Life, etc to identify opportunities for community-based and alternative delivery of wellness education and training
- Actively research funding opportunities for student wellness programming
- Collaborate with other Student Success staff, professionals, student leaders, and other stakeholders in broader student experience and student support programming on campus
- Consult with off-campus professional colleagues to maintain up-to-date best practices
- Develop and create community partnerships to ensure a holistic approach to student wellness

**Training and Administration (10%)**
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading training sessions for faculty, staff, and students on responding to student wellness needs
- Inform and advise the Director, Student Success and Wellbeing on relevant training and opportunities, beneficial to other departments, that would support the holistic approach to student wellness on campus
- Day-to-day administration including supervision of staff, adherence to University policies and procedures, budgeting and forecasting, performance management, and responding to inquiries
- Track and maintain student feedback through mid-term strategies, student stratification, and feedback surveys
