DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Materials Planner will manage material inventory including regional buys, brewing materials, packaging material inventory. The Materials Planner will work with suppliers, national procurement, national supply chain, and scheduling to ensure proper inventory levels that support the operation. They will proactively communicate material inventory issues and timing of replenishment and oversee the work of a Materials Coordinator.

**Responsibilities**:

- Establish target packaging material inventory levels to support business needs and minimize risk
- Weekly release of materials in order to maintain coverage required to support the execution of the production schedule

- Work with Purchasing, Production Scheduler, and Supply Chain Manager weekly to understand implications of programs, delisted products etc. and coordinate activities around monitoring material changes
- Coordinate with suppliers/operations/purchasing for packaging receipt issues, Material Defect Report’s, and line trials, for resolution. Communicate with Operations on any supply issues
- Work with Marketing/Trade on packaging design changes and material run out to minimize write-off risks and destruction
- Ensure physical and system inventories are accurate and investigate any discrepancies and take corrective action to fix - Weekly and monthly basis and explain all variance to Finance
- Maintain BOM (bill of material) accuracy to ensure correct material depletion.
- Coordinate all inter-company materials shipment/contract brewing shipment
- Continually evaluate processes for ways to improve inventory management with the goal of maximizing warehouse space and service to the operation and minimizing obsolescence
- Follow up with suppliers and scheduling when products are not received as planned to discuss shortfalls or overages
- Provide feedback as to why materials are not available or in an overage position; works with Scheduler, Buyer and supplier to coordinate schedules changes, etc.
- Source and negotiate the purchase of unique materials for brewing or packaging, as dictated by region.
- Support adherence to quality and food safety standards as required
- Manage and maintain full good item set-up requirements for supply chain responsibilities
- Coordinate logistics for glass material shipments destined for City Brewing
- Perform other duties as required
- Adhering to the food safety required as per job duties and reporting nonconformities.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in Logistics, Business, Math or related field. APICS CPIM designation or Professional Logistician designation an asset
- Minimum 3 years related experience required with knowledge of supply chain systems
- Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate level Excel skills; Intermediate skills using Oracle or similar related data base systems required
- Demonstrated relationship building capability and ability to influence
- Understanding of Inventory Management principles
- Demonstrated understanding of financial impact of business decisions.
- Demonstrated analytical skills to evaluate material requirements, transactional discrepancies, and implement corrective action required
- Good communication skills for coordinating when issues happen
- Ability to work overtime to support month end inventory process
- Acceptable criminal check and credit check
- Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization
