Cando Rail & Terminals is a leading North American rail and terminal services provider with operations across Canada and the United States. Cando is the critical linchpin in supply chains, connecting industry to Class 1 railways._

The Commercial and Business Development Analyst is responsible for supporting Cando's Commercial and Business Development group by conducting research, gathering and analyzing data, creating reports, maintain records, and making recommendations based on research findings. The Analyst provides support to the BD and Project teams for proposal and sales presentation design, interfaces with internal stakeholders, and organizes financial models. **This position will be remote.**

***General Responsibilities**

Research & Development
- Conduct research on business opportunities, customer demographics, new technologies, market insights, and industry trends, competing organizations; gather and interpret data collected, and present conclusions with recommendations for BD management review
- Maintain organized records of business development performance, client information and leads, CRM reporting, customer retention, and various financial models for use and insight for improving existing processes
- Lead, maintain, and coordinate with the BD and Business Unit teams the development and monthly and annual reporting of KPI data.
- Assist and support the BD and Project teams as requested with proposals, business and financial models, and project budgets and perform the related administrative functions as needed.
- Develop, implement, and maintain documents for tracking sales and expenses for the business development department
- Support Cando's Marketing department as requested with the development of marketing materials and social media activities related to commercial and business development objectives

Support and Administration
- Provide administrative support using the CRM and Sales Pipeline management software tools
- Support the execution or implementation of new business opportunities working with the BD, Projects, and Infrastructure teams
- Must have the ability to travel away from home to assist in the implementation of new business opportunities in Canada and the US, including having and maintaining a valid general driver's license.
- Track all customer interactions and build knowledge base for ongoing reference
- Build and maintain positive and respectful working relationships with team members and business units.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Attention to detail when researching and collecting data on clients, industries, and opportunities through market research and feasibility studies
- Ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload in a dynamic environment and possess effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal qualities including communication, motivational support, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills
- Working knowledge of legislation, regulations, customer and industry standards, and best practices relevant to business development and project planning
- Financial acumen and understanding of standard accounting practices
- Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with ability to learn, implement, and share new processes and technologies
- Ability to travel to various locations throughout the Canada and the US

Education & Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years experience working with business development initiatives, research, and data mining highly desirable
- Experience with CRM databases
- Understanding of railway and supply chain principles preferred
- Diploma in Business or Project Management is preferred
- Industry related experience or knowledge an asset
