**Job Title**:Settlement Worker (SEPT) - Tagalog

**Work location**:TDSB/TCDSB schools, IRC and other locations as assigned

**Team**:Settlement and Education Partnership Toronto (SEPT)

**Hours**:35 hours per week; require working irregular hours including evenings, weekends and some holidays, summer layoff period (4 weeks) applies

**Salary Range**:$45,263 to $50,294

**Current Rate**: $24.87 per hour

**Status**: Unionized

**Essential duties and responsibilities**:

- Provide assessment, information and orientation services to newcomer families to facilitate adjustment to the school system and the settlement process;
- Provide and support newcomer youth and families the information about resources and services in the school and community;
- Facilitate access to referrals and appropriate services both in the school and community where there are barriers due to language, culture and race;
- Establish and maintain contact with newcomer families to determine their needs and issues;
- Promote culturally sensitive links between school staff and newcomer families;
- Promote newcomer parents’ involvement in school events;
- Plan, organize and implement group sessions on topics related to settlement;
- Keep the team updated on all new information and be cooperative in maintenance of information by tracking government and school policies and community resources in order to effectively inform and refer clients;
- Establish and maintain excellent service quality for clients;
- Keep and maintain clients records in a timely and professional manner;
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely statistical and progress reports as required;
- Collaborate with internal teams/units in planning, organizing or implementing activities to attain agency goals;
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationship and communication with internal and external groups.

**Qualifications**:

- Canadian university degree or equivalent in Social Sciences or a related discipline;
- Certification or training on Community Services, Counselling or other related disciplines an asset;
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience, preferably in a front-line service role and non-profit setting;
- Excellent knowledge of cultural, economic and social needs of refugees, immigrant youth and their families, including their settlement and integration issues;
- Knowledge of Ontario Education System;
- Knowledge of programs and services for immigrant youth and their families, and resources available to assist them in integration and adaptation to the new society;
- Proven abilities in program and service organization and coordination, referrals, task management, and working with diverse cultures and mixed age groups;
- Excellent communication, inter-personal and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent oral and written English skills, public speaking, and report writing skills; proficiency in a second language commonly used by clients - **Tagalog**
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
- Confident and experienced in virtual service delivery is a definite asset;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, graphic software and social media that facilitate work, communication and online marketing;
- Flexible, willing to travel in GTA, and work in evenings and weekends.

**Other Requirements**:

- Ability to perform some physical activities (e.g. lifting and loading program materials and office equipment);
- A negative result in Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory;
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a car to carry out duties is preferred.
