This position requires a thorough understanding of payroll processes, payroll regulations, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Planning, organizing, directing, and reviewing the work of the Payroll team, coaching and mentoring, setting performance and development goals, and monitoring service levels and workflow of the team
- Developing and implementing payroll and related procedures and controls to ensure the timely and accurate production of payrolls, reports and remittances, including those to government agencies, benefit providers and banks
- Ensuring the enrollment of employees in the benefit and pension plans, and the reconciliation and analysis of payroll, pension and benefit accounts
- Overseeing and providing expert guidance on the preparation of Records of Employment, T4s, T4As, Municipal Pension Plan reports, and all other reporting, remittances and filings
- Analyzing business and process metrics to identify, improve and verify business processes, producing reports outlining historical and trend information to key business stakeholders
- Assisting with financial planning, reporting and business development initiatives, including during collective bargaining
**What you will bring**:
- Completion of a recognized professional accounting program such as CPA (including legacy CGA, CMA, and CA), plus a Payroll Manager designation from the Canadian Payroll Association/National Payroll Institute, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- A minimum of 5 years related payroll, benefits and accounting experience, including previous supervisory experience in a payroll function
- Current knowledge of payroll and accounting legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and practices that are applicable to the work, including privacy legislation
- Knowledge of employment standards provisions to employees covered by a collective agreement and the role of arbitral jurisprudence in collective agreement administration
- Knowledge of the methods, practices and principles involved in the preparation, calculation and processing of payrolls and benefits
- Knowledge of employee group benefit plan administration, including defined benefit pension plans
- Experience with pension administration, particularly the Municipal Pension Plan, is an asset
- The ability to coach and mentor a team of payroll professionals
- A results driven mindset with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst understanding the critical nature of the work that we do

- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
**SECURITY REQUIREMENTS**:
As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 5 years.
