**The Opportunity**
We are seeking someone who wants to make a difference and has a passion for supporting individuals who have experienced difficulties with coping, mental health concerns and/or trauma. A good fit for our agency is a self-directed, engaging and empathetic Clinical Counsellor who has clear knowledge, experience and understanding of mental wellness and trauma as it relates to the experience of a child, youth or adult. We are looking for someone who can function independently yet also interface well with our Clinical Coordinator who oversees the program. This position will primarily provide comprehensive clinical counselling to children and youth, and their families, who have experienced sexual abuse or sexual assault, and children who demonstrate sexual behaviour problems. This position may also provide comprehensive clinical counselling to children and youth, and their family members, who may present with mental health or psychosocial concerns.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provides comprehensive clinical counselling and psychotherapy to children and youth, and their family members, who have experienced sexual abuse or sexual behaviour problems, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques. May also provide counselling to children, youth and families struggling to cope, or affected by mild to moderate mental health concerns.
- Interviews clients to gather case history information. Assesses profound social, psychological, emotional and/ behavioral issues affecting clients. Identifies core areas of concern to be addressed by clinical counseling.
- Identifies, assesses and monitors client’s needs in conjunction with caregivers and/or other service providers.
- Provides individual, family, as well as group therapy and education groups.
- Develops and implements treatment plans and interventions.
- Provides follow-up support to clients after the end of therapy/treatment. Monitors and evaluates clients functioning and interaction with family, friends and in the community. Advises other professionals involved with client’s case where further evaluation or more intensive treatment is required.
- Provides consultation to those working with client cases (social workers, probation officers, other organization staff, and professionals) and to the broader community.
- Provides required reports on client’s behavior and progress. Maintains clinical records indicating the nature and duration of treatment.
- Maintains waitlist, monthly reporting and statistical requirements as needed.
- Assesses referrals by gathering information, determining eligibility, service priorities and providing appropriate additional referral services as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
**Qualifications**
- 1. Education and Knowledge_
- Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
- 2. Training and Experience_
- Two (2) years recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
