**Hybrid Job**: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

**Make a difference**

The Investigations Unit within the Legal Services Division, is responsible for administering TCHC’s fraud and waste hotline and other complaints received about tenants, staff, and others. Complaints are received from a number of sources, including the Hotline, EasyTrac, the City’s Fraud and Waste Hotline, Staff, and third parties. Reporting to the Manager of Investigations, the Investigations Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing all fraud and waste complaints received by TCHC in a manner that aligns with TCHC's tenant focused culture; including documenting all relevant information in the fraud tracking database and performing data analysis in order to prepare statistical reports on a quarterly basis to be reported to the Board of Directors or Governance Committee. The Investigations Specialist performs preliminary research, prepares follow up correspondences, and prioritizes fraud complaints to assign cases accordingly. The Investigations Specialist conducts preliminary investigations into suspected fraud and waste matters, which requires compiling case files, preparing evidence briefs, and maintain thorough knowledge of legislation and procedures relevant to TCHC.

**What you'll do**
- Manage all fraud and waste complaints received from TCHC’s fraud hotline and various other sources._
- Document relevant information from all complaints in the tracking database
- Perform preliminary research on TCHC and external databases to validate complaints
- Coordinate and prioritize complaints to assign to the appropriate team or unit
- Manage investigation cases based on the workload of others
- Follow up with professional correspondences to obtain status updates or outcome of cases
- Respond to staff inquiries relating to fraud investigations
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of various legislation including the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Housing Services Act, and the Residential Tenancies Act
- Manage and triage complaints related to suspected illegal activities and misconduct of tenants such as misrepresentation of income or household composition, theft, or other criminal acts and regulatory or policy breaches._
- Utilize internal TCHC and external databases to conduct preliminary in-depth research, and review data obtained to support investigations
- Prior to triaging the complaint; compile, organize, and prepare preliminary evidence collected through research and investigation
- Gather additional information from the complainant and other relevant sources as necessary
- Prepare professional correspondences for internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare detailed, fact-based correspondences on simple fraud matters to be used by the Legal department and Operations when proceeding with next step actions.
- Liaise with external agencies (Regulatory and Law Enforcement) throughout the investigative process as needed, with the support of the Investigator
- Maintain complaint fraud tracking database and perform data analysis to prepare statistical reporting to the Board of Directors or Governance Committee._
- Document relevant information from all complaints as necessary
