Financial Controller

**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join our team. The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting, month end close, financial reporting, government remittances, financial statements, purchasing, and variance analysis. As the controller, you will supervise a team of 5 staff.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversight of all day-to-day accounting including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, Work-In-Process reporting, account reconciliations, month end close, accruals and general journal entries
- Cash flow management and forecasting
- Month-end reconciliations and close procedures to prepare accurate monthly financial reporting on a timely basis
- Maintain account policies and procedures and a system of internal controls
- Work with Project Management and accounting team to ensure clients are billed accurately and on a timely basis and that receivables are monitored and collected on a timely basis
- Support payroll functions and ensure payroll calculations including EI, CPP, and filing requirements, employee reimbursements, WSIB reporting, source deductions and other tax remittances are completed on time and in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all payable statements, vendor relationships and communications are maintained
- Ensure a steady cash flow by generating, auditing and sending invoices to clients per their contract schedule and completing collections weekly.
- Analyze and question project costs and ensure their accuracy and validity.

- Effectively communicate with Project Managers regarding contract/purchase order documents, change orders and other contract/purchase order modifications and approvals
- Manage banking functions and maintain relationships
- Identify and monitor project revenue/cost variances and prepare estimate to actual analysis
- Comply/stay up to date with local, provincial/state and federal government reporting and tax filings
- Improve efficiency and accuracy while reducing costs by improving process and developing policies.
- Manage the Finance and Purchasing team (hiring, training, supervise daily work)
**Education Requirements**:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting/Finance
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
**Work Experience**:
- Minimum 2+ years as a Controller or Accounting Manager
- Strong Working knowledge of finance both Canada and US law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
- Advanced level proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online
