**Ottawa, Canada office.**

The **Standards Specialist **will support the standards development process, to develop and revise standards used to evaluate the safety of various product types for UL Standards & Engagement. The Standards Specialist will support the development of standards related to Canadian electric utility workplace safety and live working, and is responsible for ensuring that accredited American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Standards Council of Canada (SCC) accredited standards development procedures are followed during the process.

What you’ll learn & achieve:
**As the Standards Specialist**
**, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL Standards and Engagement as you**:

- Support the development and revision of standards activities utilizing accreditation procedures and knowledge of internal business requirements.
- Evaluate assigned portfolio for standards development needs and opportunities.
- Build relationships and engage stakeholders in the standards development process.
- Evaluate Technical Committee membership rosters and to ensure membership consists of a balanced representative group of stakeholders. Recruit new Technical Committee members as appropriate.
- Maintain relationships with engineers, scientists, and other technical stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations to Program Managers on their assigned portfolio of standards.
- Perform other duties as directed.

**Professional education and experience requirements for the role include**:

- Bachelor’s Degree. Technical Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of concepts related to combustion processes, cabling installations and conduit systems, a plus. knowledge of concepts related to electric utility and electrical safety.
