**Facility Maintenance Technician**

If you want to be part of something big in the exciting and dynamic world of global telecommunications, come and join our team. Excel Group is seeking a full-time Facility Maintenance Technician to support our commercial properties in the GTA.

**About the Role**:
As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for contributing to the Excel's operational performance by maintaining and improving the commercial properties located in Etobicoke and Vaughan. The Maintenance Technician will be a part of a team that performs a variety task to maintain building systems, equipment, and physical aspects of the facility.

**Responsibilities**
- Diligently replying to work orders, work assignments and other work requests in a timely manner
- Working together with other maintenance staff, management, and contractors as and when required; in a cooperative, efficient, and respectful manner to complete assigned work
- Performing all duties in a safe, diligent, and careful manner; operating with strict compliance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety policies, rules, and requirements for all work performed
- Ensuring that all work areas are always kept clean and tidy in a manner consistent with good housekeeping practices
- Performing general maintenance, inspection, and repair work on all aspects of the facilities and systems within the scope of work.
- Performs regular facility equipment and systems monitoring and inspection, preventative, and corrective maintenance to ensure facility operation and integrity are maintained.
- Communicates and records observations about facility equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment and building systems
- Responds promptly and courteously to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance in a timely manner on facility equipment and systems
- Ensures work completed meets quality, contract response and all other requirements
- Receives, tracks, monitors, and reports status of maintenance and repair work within service maintenance management database.
- Accurately maintains/completes all equipment logbooks and maintenance records as required
- Repair structures, build and/or install partitions, blackboards, install pictures, and office furniture.
- Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing switches, ballast, wiring, exterior and interior bulbs, installing light fixtures, and troubleshoot problems.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs such as faucet replacement, urinal and toilet repairs, pipe and drain repairs and troubleshooting malfunctioning plumbing equipment.
- Snow removal such as cleaning and salting of walkways, pathways, and parking lot.

**Required Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in commercial facility operations, maintenance, and repair.
- Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
- Must be able and willing to work flexible shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency callouts when snowplowing and salting is required
- Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must have the ability to use hand tools, lift up to 50 lbs., and work on ladders
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Excellent communication skills (verbally, written); must be able speak and write fluently in English.
- Effective communication and critical thinking skills
- Must be well
- organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Working at Heights and WHIMIS training
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License

**Success in the Role**:

- A good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in a large facility
- Ability to perform Reactive and Preventative Maintenance work and proper documentation
- Proven desire to learn, take initiative, and a passion for technical fields
- Positive, professional disposition towards work and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors and to contribute to a project team.
- Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
- Ability to succeed in a collaborative environment under very dynamic (changing) conditions.
- Demonstrates humility while interacting within the company on a day-to-day basis

**Work Environment**
- Regular hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, however some flexibility is required when on-call for snowplowing and salting
- Regularly scheduled evening and weekend work and 12 hours shift work may be required.
- Requires working extended periods on his/her feet in a fast-paced environment
- Commercial Properties to be serviced are in Etobicoke and Vaughan
- All extra Covid PPEs provided, maintaining distance on job sites
