The argenx Medical Advisor (MA) is a field-based medical and scientific expert on argenx’s scientific data, products and trials.

The Medical Advisor is responsible for engagement with medical stakeholders in healthcare settings across Canada, and with other relevant decision makers, patient groups, policy makers and government payors.

The Medical Advisor designs and delivers innovative & collaborative medical affairs projects, operates as medical reviewer (and final signatory where qualified), partners with other functions (e.g. commercial) to shape strategies to improve patient outcomes, and supports related internal training initiatives.

The Medical Advisor:

- Is an internal and external expert in relevant disease areas and argenx products, including clinical data, real-world use, both current and future therapeutic indications and competitive environment.
- Understands the management of relevant diseases, mapping the patient journey, identifying unmet medical needs, data gaps and areas of clinical collaboration.
- Builds valued and trusted relationships with the healthcare community through external engagement, projects and other collaboration opportunities.
- Actively contributes to cross-functional brand planning and development of innovative Medical Affairs Plans and MSL-led activities using their extensive knowledge of disease area, data and competitor environment.
- Consistently represents and reflects argenx’ values as a science-driven, patient-centric organisation.
- Works closely with the Canadian Medical Affairs team and cross-functionally with relevant Commercial and market access colleagues, and may also support activities and projects as per medical plan.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Scientific Leadership:

- Maintains the highest scientific and medical expertise of all relevant diseases and products.
- Is a trusted and credible source of information, insight and advice to HCPs and other relevant stakeholders.
- Delivers non-product, non-promotional communications and education regarding argenx areas of therapeutic interest.
- Responds reactively to unsolicited individual enquiries from HCPs or other relevant stakeholders, on both Canadian approved and non-approved products.
- Engages in legitimate exchange of medical and scientific information during the development of a medicine.
- Delivers high quality scientific/medical education in a variety of settings, including related to diseases of interest, clinical studies, investigational products and any future licensed products.

External Focus:

- Identifies and develops productive relationships and collaborations, including evidence generation/ data gap activities, with all relevant stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, professional organisations and clinical investigators.
- Contributes to elevating the reputation of argenx as an innovative, science-driven, patient centric organization.
- Consistently acts as an argenx ambassador.

Insight Generation:

- Gathers clinical and scientific feedback from external stakeholders that can be disseminated throughout the organisation for the purpose of improving argenx products and services.
- Engages in legitimate information and opinion gathering from groups such as medical experts/thought leaders during the development of a medicine.
- Coordinates the timely and appropriate response to internal and external Medical Information enquires, utilizing argenx medical information resources and in-line with regulatory requirements.
- Attends appropriate local, national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, develop productive collaborations, engage in scientific exchange and ensure insights are shared within argenx.

Medical Affairs and Cross-functional collaboration
- Inputs to the development and implementation of Medical Affairs plans to advance argenx objectives.
- Collaborates with Clinical Development/Operations and local clinical site liaison (Canada) to provide expert support for research activities (e.g. site selection, site initiation visits, investigator meetings).
- Supports market access activities and any healthcare policy efforts across the region.
- Ensures a close working relationship with all argenx functions.
- Supports cross-functional teams to ensure operations are patient-focused, including rapidly responding to internal and external requests to discuss specific situations and challenges and provide medical affairs support to all stakeholders.
- Provides ad-hoc strategic and operational support to Senior Director of Medical Affairs (Canada).
- Designs and implements compliant, innovative and collaborative disease-focused, non-promotional partnership projects with expert HCPs & centres.
- Develops, launches and maintains a repository of high impact, high value medical materials for external use (e.g., congress data presentations, slide decks).
