Mining Development Manager

**Responsibilities**:
- Develop action plans for Makivvik’s active role in the mining sector through the development or assistance of a group of companies working in the mining industry in Nunavik;
- Development and maintain excellent working relationships with companies in the mining sector who are interested in the Nunavik Region, as well as public bodies and ministries or other groups;
- Liaise with all parties to the Raglan Agreement and the Nunavik Nickel Agreement to ensure compliance working with Makivvik’s legal department;
- Track all exploration work in the Nunavik Region;
- Work with the various Liaisons, Agents, or Coordinators in the Nunavik industry with respect to new developments in the mining sector;
- Participate on various committees related to the mining sector;
- Seek out new business opportunities in the Mining sector;
- Liaise with Plan Nord and other government officials on a regular basis;
- Be available to travel, as requested;
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
- College diploma or University degree in management, business or a field related to
mining or geology. Relevant work experience would also be considered;
- Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English
and/or French;
- Excellent computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
- General knowledge of Inuit, Inuit traditions and cultural knowledge and understanding, is an
asset;
- Demonstrate political acuity and sensitivity along with exemplary presentation and analytical
skills;
- Working knowledge of the mining industry and activities;
- Demonstrates the capacity to work autonomously, a great team player and takes
initiative;
- Knowledge of geographic and socio-economic characteristics of the Nunavik region would be an
asset;
- Must have an excellent understanding of municipal and Indigenous government structures and
processes as well as the ability to interpret policies, regulations and legislation;
- Knowledge of James Bay Northern Quebec Agreement considered an asset.
