**About Us**:
The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 Ph.D. students).
In the Faculty of Health Sciences, the H.A. Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic (Clinic) provides clinical training in speech-language pathology and audiology for students enrolled in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), Clinical Research facilitated by faculty in the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS) Program, and Clinical Service for the community. It is also the home of the Southwestern Ontario sites of the Ontario Infant Hearing Program and the Preschool Speech and Language Initiative, tykeTALK.
**Responsibilities**:
Infant Hearing Audiologist Responsibilities:
The IHP Audiologist provides, diagnostic audiology services, and counselling and support for families of children who are identified as deaf or hard of hearing.
The IHP Audiologist will: Works closely with clinic administrative staff, the coordinating agency (Thames Valley Children's Centre), and community partners (e.g. Elgin Audiology Consultants, LHSC) in coordinating and completing diagnostic assessment and habilitation services for children and families identified as IHP eligible.
- Completes accurate point of care charting, data entry and data tracking forms
- Provides appropriate follow up and community resources to parents
- Tracks and monitors high risk children as part of the high-risk surveillance component of IHP
- Participates in the Infant Hearing Program (IHP) quality assurance protocols including monitoring and maintaining compliance with MCCSS site deliverables
- Participates in MCCSS directed training
- Provides student supervision to first
- and second-year Audiology students as required
- Follows applicable infection prevention and control protocols as required.
**Education**:
- Master's Degree in Audiology and Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
**Experience**:
- Three years' experience in a clinical setting as an IHP audiologist or working with children.
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Ability to meet and maintain the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services Infant Hearing Program performance standards.
- Ability to assess responses to sensitive information and provide resources and referrals in a supportive manner.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, multidisciplinary teams and community partnerships.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, staff of community agencies and community members.
- Ability to accurately document client interactions in our clinical database and/or physical charts
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and to organize time and workload effectively in a complex environment.
- Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to contribute to a positive, harassment-free workplace that respects diversity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and ensure appropriate function of all IHP diagnostic equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
