**Job Summary**

In support of the NGC’s strategic pillars to strengthen community connections through transformative art experiences; build a collection and program that inspires human connection; and to empower, support and build a diverse and collaborative team, the Gallery is hiring one position of Curatorial Assistant. The Curatorial Assistant position supports multiple facets of the curatorial division related to acquisitions, programming, scheduling and coordinating, and stakeholder and community engagement.

Under the direction of the Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings and the Senior Curator of Photographs, the Curatorial Assistant assists and supports the departments in all its activities by contributing to and assisting with: the care, development, documentation, study and administration of the collections and research into the specific collection areas by cataloguing, documenting and maintaining works of art already in the collections and new acquisitions; research related to ownership history, exhibition, and publication history which may include direct contact with artists, art dealers, other museum colleagues and private collectors; evaluating primary and secondary sources for use in publications including exhibition catalogues, booklet and/or brochures; the planning and production of exhibitions, installations, publications, digital content, lectures and tours in which the NGC’s collections of Prints and Drawings and Photographs are presented internally and externally; internships, donor relations, and outreach through, for instance, the activities of the Prints and Drawings Study Room which includes the activities of the Friends of the Print Room, and the activities of the Photographs Collectors Group.

**Requirements**:

- Master’s degree in art history or a related field; or equivalent experience within arts/cultural organizations;
- Knowledge of current art museum methodologies and practices.
- Advanced art historical research skills in the area of prints and drawings and photographs;
- Knowledge of printmaking and drawing techniques and materials and photographic techniques and materials;
- Ability to coordinate, control and organize multiple functions and activities;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and to work well under pressure;
- A collaboratively minded colleague with the ability to work independently and as a team member
- Cross-cultural curatorial experience would be an asset.

**Condition of Employment**
