**Position Description**:
We are seeking a creative and motivated educator to play both lead and supporting roles in the development, coordination, implementation, documentation and evaluation of program and exhibit experiences, with a focus on programs, exhibits and resources for young children and their caregivers.

Working collaboratively within the Experiential Learning department, this position will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating experiences for young children, their teachers and their caregivers; this includes the Big Science For Little Hands professional development program for early childhood educators and caregivers; and may include gallery programs, school programs, and/or outreach programs.

This position is also responsible for the curation of the Wonder gallery and works closely with the Visitor Experience management team on staff training, supervision, and mentoring of Science Facilitators. Supported by a team of fellow curators (responsible for other areas of the facility), Exhibit Designers and full-time Science Facilitator team members, this position will be responsible for the on-going operation of the Wonder gallery including exhibit, equipment and consumables management, evaluation, constant improvement and regular reporting. This position will also work with colleagues in the Experiential Learning and Exhibits Departments as the content lead on exhibit updates and renewals associated with their gallery.

As a facility, Science World is generally open to the public seven days a week, with some extended evening hours in the summer months. Typical office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm, with front-facing and operational teams also working a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays and evenings. Hours of work and other related requirements will be scheduled according to business needs and this may include special events on evenings, weekends and holidays.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Act as Science World’s content expert in early learning - liaising with ECE professionals, childcare providers, teachers, the public, and community representatives
- As an internal resource person, provide advice and training to staff and volunteers related to young children’s learning
- Develop, implement and evaluate new activities, workshops and exhibits, with a focus on children under 8 years old, their teachers and their caregivers. These may be in-person at Science World or as part of outreach program; some programming for adults is online
- Train and coach facilitation staff and volunteers to ensure successful delivery of workshops, programs and activities
- Develop and deliver professional development programs for educators and caregivers of young children
- Act as the mentor for Early Childhood Education students from Langara College, who do internships at Science World
- Lead the curatorial work for the Wonder Gallery including:

- Periodic exhibit evaluation and exhibit renewal work
- Evaluating the effectiveness (learning and logístical) of new and existing gallery exhibits and experiences
- Working with facilitators to develop and maintain operational best practices
- Recruiting, training and supervising gallery volunteers
- With the Exhibits team, assisting in content development and evaluation of new exhibits and projects
- Contribute to budget development and manage ongoing budget tracking related to portfolio of responsibilities
- Communicate and report to internal and external stakeholders, related to portfolio of responsibilities
- Operate within the philosophy, culture and values of Science World
- Perform other related duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role

**Qualifications**:

- Professional track record in developing and implementing successful education programs and resources
- Experience and confidence in training, mentoring and coaching educator peers
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods, including play-based learning, inquiry learning, emergent curriculum, problem-based learning and cross-curricular teaching
