The science team at Vital is seeking a passionate and creative scientist to fill the role of Scientist - Process Development. We're looking for a teammate proficient in nanoparticle chemistry and manufacturing/modification, who is also knowledgeable about GMP manufacturing. Someone with exceptional leadership skills and experience who can help establish our process development efforts and serve as a guide and mentor to the associate scientists in their team.

This role will involve you leading your team from the bench to develop and validate processes for producing the reagents that fuel our next-generation assays. We are constantly optimizing our lab to help push science forward at unprecedented rates. You will be expected and encouraged to actively contribute to our product development direction, and present novel procedural and scientific concepts that will positively impact all aspects of Vital's operations.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Work in a cross-disciplinary team with the goal of driving innovation of scalable processes related to the manufacture and use of nanoparticles and other reagents
- Develop, optimize and validate new analytics to support our product pipeline
- Define, develop and validate manufacturing processes to support our product pipeline
- Planning, running and/or supervising experiments to support process development
- Author, review, and hone our standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve quality and accelerate our product pipeline
- Be actively involved in laboratory management and leadership of associate scientists
- Partner closely to provide manufacturing support to our research, assay development, downstream formulation, and engineering teams to achieve performance requirements.
- Architect systems and processes to streamline our development pipeline and cross-disciplinary integrations (formulation, stabilization, microfluidics, readout)
- Manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate effectively with peers and leadership to support decision-making, including summarizing results in reports and presentations
- Contribute to departmental strategies and provide input on lab requirements and improvements
- Provide mentorship and leadership in the field of process development

**What you'll need**:

- Post-graduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related field with 1-3 years of hands on experience in an industrial GMP setting
- Minimum 2 years experience in analytical test development
- Expertise in the use of UV-vis and Fluorescence for quantitation of analytes from a complex mixture
- Nanoparticle experience including nanoparticle detection/quantification, nanoparticle-based assay development, nanoparticle characterization and surface modifications will be considered an asset
- Ability to communicate results and concepts clearly to fellow scientists
- A strong data analysis/statistics background
- Ability to handle a diverse workload
- High learning agility
