The Department of Surgery at McMaster University is seeking a **Medical Secretary II **to support an **academic Plastic Surgeon** **at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Charlton Site.**

**Division Overview**

Division of Plastic Surgery at St. Joseph’s Healthcare provides comprehensive tertiary care for a wide range of conditions, specializing in reconstructive plastic surgery. St. Joseph’s Healthcare

provides reconstructive plastic surgery covering the full spectrum, including skin cancer, extremity reconstruction, breast reconstruction and head and neck microsurgery. Elective and

emergency hand cases are seen in this institution, with busy hand clinics at the main hospital on Charlton Street and the satellite Ambulatory Facility in East Hamilton.

The Hamilton General site of Hamilton Health Sciences (HHSC) serves as the Regional Trauma Centre for Burn Management, maxillofacial, and extremity trauma, housing the Regional Burn

Unit and Hyperbaric Oxygen Unit. The Burn Unit, the second busiest in the province, admits around 120 cases annually and operates a daily outpatient clinic. Plastic surgeons support the

Trauma, Cardiac, and General Surgery programs.

At the Juravinski Cancer Centre, faculty focus on oncology, performing sentinel node dissections and reconstruction for breast, sarcoma, and pelvic tumours.

The McMaster University Medical Centre (MUMC) provides care for cleft lip/palate, craniofacial deformities, congenital hand issues, and brachial plexus injuries, with an emphasis on pediatric surgery.

**Job Summary**:
The Medical Secretary (II) is responsible for establishing priorities for office operations and performing a variety of secretarial and administrative duties within a clinical or medical practice setting.

**Purpose and Key Functions**:

- Prepare, coordinate, and monitor physician on-call schedules, procedure schedules, clinics, and medical staff rounds.
- Write a variety of documents including correspondence, reports and meeting minutes.
- Schedule patient medical appointments and procedures.
- Coordinate calendars, arrange meetings, book rooms and make travel arrangements.
