**IT Technician**

The Research and Productivity Council (RPC) is New Brunswick’s provincial research organization, a research & technology organization that offers analytical services and applied research. We serve over 1000 clients annually from our locations in Fredericton and Moncton, New Brunswick.

We are recruiting a Research Associate for an applied research term position until March 01,2025. The Research Associate will be working on various projects including developing a high-throughput and rapid molecular method to efficiently track the sources of contamination in water samples (Microbial source tracking), developing qPCR assays, cyanotoxin analytics and other related projects. There is flexibility for the Research Associate to work at either our Fredericton or Moncton location with some travel expected between locations and will report to RPC’s Director of Bioscience.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conducting experiments to aid in new service development.
- Assisting scientists with lab operations and technical challenges.
- Employing validation procedures to experiments in progress.
- Submitting validation packages for accreditation under supervision of Director of Bioscience and CEO.

**Requirements**:

- MSc/PhD in Molecular Microbiology Biology/Genetics.
- Experience performing research, method validation, or method verification activities.
- Experience working in an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
- Experience in running commercial ELISA assays and designing primers/probes for real-time qPCR.
- Experience using quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) or similar mathematical modeling approaches.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and designing scientific/technical projects or programs.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting complex scientific or technical data, literature, or information, and providing scientific/technical expertise or recommendations.
- Experience in coordinating or managing multidisciplinary projects/activities or teams.
- An aptitude for working effectively in a fast-paced and technically challenging setting.
- Understanding of laboratory QA/QC and electronic data handling.
- Good applied statistical skills such as distributions, statistical testing, and regression.
- Experience writing SOPs, research proposals, and testing new methodologies.
- Experience writing validation reports for ISO 17025 accreditation.

This is a full-time term position for immediate hire. The hours of work are Friday from 8:15 to 4:30. Salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range is $50,000 to $55,000.
