Investment Associate

Vestcor has an opening for an Investment Associate. This is a one-year term position, extendable for an additional year.

Located in Fredericton, Vestcor is the largest investment manager in Atlantic Canada providing global investment management services to eleven different client groups representing approximately $21.0 billion in assets under management. We also provide administration services to eleven pension plans and four employee benefit plans.

The Investment Associate reports to the Senior Portfolio Manager, Quantitative Investing and provides support to the Quantitative Investing team through the calculation and reporting of selected data, basic financial modeling, and administrative support for several investment portfolios. 

This is an opportunity for an individual contemplating a career in Investment Management to be exposed to the activities related to quantitative portfolio management and investment research. The responsibilities of the position include tracking and analysis of investment performance and financial markets, reporting on portfolios, assisting with the management and analysis of large amounts of data and the preparation of investment presentations.

The ideal candidate requires an undergraduate or graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Data Science, Actuarial Science, or another quantitative discipline with a demonstrated interest in capital markets and investing. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or a current CFA program candidate would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will have experience with a programming language (e.g. R, Python or Matlab) and will be a team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail and data analytical skills. Written and spoken competence in English is required.
