Under the direction of the Director, Global Engagement. The Manager, International Student Services is responsible for managing the operations and budget of International Student Services, including leading the development/enhancement, communication, and implementation of specialised international student supports and services, such as, initiatives related to international student pre-arrival and post-arrival transition and integration, ongoing globalization/engagement and retention, and immigration advising. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

- Implements policies and procedures to ensure that international department processes are streamlined with the broader college services.
- Manages the international student support team to provide direction on issues related to immigration, health insurance, and retention that support the success of international students studying at GC.
- Facilitates and promotes ongoing service improvement to international student services in response to college’s strategic plan, and in anticipation of the current and future student needs, including the enhancements of digital systems/solutions supporting student success.
- Supports the development and implementation of feedback surveys for international post-secondary and ESL students, and facilitates and/or participates in international student focus groups and analyzes survey data to develop programs for student success on each of the campuses, to enable consistency in access and delivery of services.
- Collaborates with Student Services, GCSA and other relevant departments/stakeholder to develop programs linking international and domestic students; supports activities and events that engage international students.
- Sit on the Student of Concern Committee and advocates and/or case manages student situations and supports.
- Provides leadership and supervision to staff by determining work priorities/assignments and approval of staff scheduling, creating an effective working environment for the staff.
- Reviews and approves communications materials produced for the portfolio.
- Conducts first level investigations to resolve disputes involving staff within the department; works with appropriate service areas and college policy documents to assist in the dispute resolution process.
- Develops proposals as required - as part of a team, researches vendors, recommends and procures equipment and software for academic use.
- Ensures that the department budget is used effectively by optimal use of human, fiscal and physical resources; monitors and prepares reports of budget expenditures; reallocates resources as necessary.
- Identifies and recommends solutions for financial impacts regarding current international trends, technologies and business processes.
- Represents International Education on a variety of internal and external committees.
- Engages College stakeholders to review current international student support initiatives and ensure continuous improvement and awareness.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successfully completed a three-year diploma / degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications or an equivalent field of study.
- Completion of RCIC or RISIA certification would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years previous related experience in the areas of operations and leadership.
- Previous leadership/ management experience is required in order to effectively manage in a complex multi-union environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management principles in order to effectively manage projects
- Demonstrated ability in performing trend analysis to identify opportunities for efficiencies
- Excellent communication, cross cultural, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
- Experience/knowledge in an academic environment preferred
- Experience/knowledge supporting International student functions as an asset
