Reporting to the General Manager, the Superintendent, Health and Safety is responsible for working with other department heads to provide health and safety support. You will also sponsor, and assist in the development of, fit-for-business health and safety requirements and procedures that align with Teck's Health and Safety Policy, Strategic Plan, and Sustainability Strategy.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Coordinate with Operations, Business Units, and corporate teams to strategically plan for health and safety
- Build on the current culture, with the objective of further developing a positive and proactive attitude
- Manage a dynamic Occupational Health, Safety, and Contractor Management team through mentorship and effective leadership
- Implement, and mentor on, Teck’s High Potential Risk and Control Strategy and mitigate high risk activities by ensuring effective controls are in place
- Participate in assurance activities to confirm conformance to established critical controls and assist in the development of effective action plans where deviations are identified
- Manage the performance and efficiency of Occupational Health and Hygiene programs, including, but not limited to employee wellness, fitness for work, industrial hygiene monitoring, and exposure reduction
- Analyze real time incident statistics and identify trends with mitigation strategies
- Engage in development projects applicable to the Operation to ensure risk identification and mitigation is considered for all projects
- Provide support within the contractor management system to improve contractor conformance

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or diploma, or equivalent industry experience
- Professional designation of CRSP, CIH or equivalent
- Minimum ten years of dynamically senior level experience preferably in a mining or natural resource environment
- Strong digital literacy including the Microsoft Office Suite®; Word, Excel, and Outlook
