Housed in the School of Languages and Literatures, the faculty member will assume responsibility for teaching 4 courses per year (typically 2 in Fall and 2 in Winter) in the French Studies program. The faculty member will be expected to contribute to the life of the French section and the School more broadly. They will also be encouraged to forge connections with the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation at the University of Guelph.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- native/near native proficiency in French;
- a record of excellence in both teaching and research commensurate with level;
- teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

**Preferred**:

- PhD in French;
- Experience in one or more of the following fields: critical studies in improvisation, intermediality, adaptation, storytelling, performance studies, community-engaged scholarship;
- Experience in teaching in French. Expertise in Experiential Learning is considered an asset;
- The ability to function in English, as well as experience in teaching at the Graduate studies level.

The French program offers both undergraduate programs in French (Major and Minor) and an M.A. in French Studies. The French Studies program is part of the School of Languages and Literatures which is comprised of 19 regular faculty members and offers several undergraduate degree programs, including a B.A. in French Studies, Classical Studies, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, as well as minors in Italian and German. The School offers three different M.A. programs: French Studies, European Studies and Latin-American and Caribbean Studies.
