- The Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa (APUO)The Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa is located on the unceded territory of the Algonquin people.

The Institute is seeking to fill a regular faculty position that focuses on contemporary Indigenous issues, including those related to Indigenous resistance and/or resurgence, two-spirit and queer studies, decolonial and anti-colonial critiques, and transnational perspectives.

**Title of the Position**: Assistant Professor or if applicable, Associate Professor

**Bilingualism**: As the University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution, all faculty members in the Faculty of Social Sciences must demonstrate active bilingualism before being granted tenure. The University offers faculty members and their spouse the opportunity to take courses to improve their second language.

**Start date**: July 1, 2023

**Requirements**: Tenure-track position.

**Salary**: The salary range for an Assistant Professor starts at $89,622 (as of May 1, 2023). The salary range for an Associate Professor starts at $98,999 (as of May 1, 2023).

**Required Skills**:

- Expertise in one (or more) of the following areas: food, land, kinship and/or Indigenous legal orders, the role of language in Indigenous knowledge and worldviews, Indigenous ways of knowing, social theory, research methodologies, social justice, social inequality, cultural studies, or different areas of interest such as Indigenous communities, decolonization, education, social movements, political anthropology.
- Demonstration of an established and innovative research program, or one that demonstrates potential for excellence through a record of refereed publications or other forms of knowledge mobilization.
- The ability, or potential, to raise external funds and/or to develop co-creative projects with non-academic communities, organizations or other stakeholders.
- Preference will be given to applicants whose research and teaching praxes reflect an existing and ongoing relationship to legally recognized and inherent Indigenous nations, communities and/or organizations (non-profit, health and wellness, educational sectors, etc.), or artistic and heritage organizations (museums, galleries, theatre, etc.).
