**WORK ILLUSTRATION**:
Reporting to the Manager, Claims Management, the Claims Analyst is responsible for the timely investigation, analysis and resolution of property and casualty claims. The incumbent also supports in the analysis and packaging of claims data reporting.
The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Coordinate and administer the receipt, investigation, evaluation and resolution of claims for and against Toronto Hydro. This includes third party liability claims, automobile claims, first party property claims and other insured losses.
- Accurately evaluate financial exposures and prepare internal reserves.
- Identify claims that Toronto Hydro is obligated to report to its insurer’s.
- Manages and documents all claim information, decisions, and communications as per the Toronto Hydro claims management guidelines.
- Assesses risk and loss trends to proactively make recommendations to effectively reduce and minimize third party claims.
- Manages claims data system integrity and quality.
- Manages correspondence with insurance companies, claimants, internal business units and other stakeholders regarding details and causes of incidences.
- Responsible to ensure the prompt and appropriate flow of information.
- Promotes claims and loss prevention awareness to business units.
- Prepare claim files, materials and evidence for Legal use in hearings and lawsuits as needed to support the Litigation team.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Undergraduate degree in law, insurance, engineering, or related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in customer service focused claims management, legal environment, or insurance field.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Certification (or in progress) preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and complete all claims handling related activities around the availability and accessibility of clients, third party claimants, claimant representatives, witnesses and law enforcement personnel, counsel, insurance representatives, insurance brokers.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with a clear client service orientation.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to adapt effectively to a changing environment.
- Able to function effectively in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment.
- Able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Proficient in letter and report writing.
- Demonstrated ability in customer service, teamwork, initiative, self-management, accountability and adaptability are required.
- Ability to cross reference information with attention to detail.
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. #LI-Hybrid
