**Job Opportunity: Coordinator, Educational Programming (part time 20 hours weekly)**

**Position Description**

Reporting to the Manager, Educational Programming, the Part time Coordinator, Educational Programming is responsible for providing leadership and assistance with Empowerment Squared’s After school Educational Programming, **Homework Circle **for newcomer and marginalized youth to further Empowerment Squared’s mission and vision.

Working alongside the Manager of Educational Programming and Full time Coordinator, Educational Programming, the Part time Coordinator, Educational Programming will assist with facilitating the **Homework Circle **program and participate in strategic planning, outreach and administration.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Working days are **non-negotiable**, Monday-Thursday (days of after school programming **:Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays)**
- Must have access to transportation
- Will be required to work in-person at the Empowerment Squared office in Hamilton (all necessary precautions would be taken in accordance with health & safety guidelines)
- Responsible for administration support including managing attendance and enrollment lists, reminder calls, answering phone calls, data entry and filing
- Onsite training will be provided
- Working with Black and newcomer youth and communicating with guardians/ adults
- Working and communicating collaboratively with a team of colleagues, in particular assisting the Full time Coordinator, Educational Programming
- Assist with outreach and recruitment support for programs and volunteers
- Support volunteer onboarding activities including hosting training sessions
- Responsible for supporting the facilitation of various programs including Educational Programming
- Allocate and organize work plans and resources effectively
- Identify, anticipate, and document issues and risks and provide mitigation recommendations in collaboration with the Full time Coordinator, Educational Programming
- Escalate key issues/risks to Manager, Educational Programming and ensure timely action to maintain project timelines
- Will sometimes have to work outside of normal office hours to support facilitation of Educational Programming
- Speaking Arabic, Farsi, French, or Ukrainian will be an asset
- Flexible to perform other duties as required

**Relevant Skills & Qualifications**
- Familiarity with Hamilton’s Black and newcomer communities and Black and newcomer youth engagement is an asset

**-**Demonstrated leadership experience working with equity-deserving groups including not for profit organizations, community groups, businesses, schools and other community stakeholders.
- Proven organizational and time management skills including the ability to work with tight deadlines and competing priorities, both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and reading skills
- Comfortable and flexible working in a fast-paced environment

**Educational Requirements**
- Minimum grade 12 education
- University degree or college diploma in social sciences, social work, education is an asset
- Experience or certification working with ESL/ELL students (e.g. TESOL) is an asset

**Compensation**:To be negotiated based on skills and experience
