Product Development Scientist

The **Product Development Scientist** position reports to Director of Chemistry and Target Manufacturing at ARTMS and involves close interaction with operations, engineering and quality teams to advance product development and assist with equipment installation. The primary focus is to satisfy ARTMS product requests, while implementing a continually improving Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Quality Management Systems. An additional focus includes establishing manufacturing processes consistent with GMP standards. This position also assists in installations and interacts with current and potential customers to ensure product requests are fulfilled.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**PRODUCTION**
- Composes QA documentation, project reports and presentations
- Initiates and participates in design, safety and gate reviews

**DEVELOPMENT**
- Develops, documents and implements processes for new radiometal production, processing, purification, and recycling
- Implements radiochemical purification and synthesis methods on various automated chemistry modules
- Evaluates experimental data with a focus on process optimization
- Maintains meticulous records of chemistry experiments
- Supervision and training current and new chemistry team members

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted, project-based environment, with emphasis on timeliness and delivery.
- Ability to handle chemicals and open radioactive sources safely
- Ability to develop chemical processes of moderate complexity
- Good understanding of inorganic, analytical and industrial chemistry
- Technical understanding of radioisotope production and radiochemical separation processes
- Experience reading, assessing and creating quality assurance documentation
- Knowledge of GMP standards or experience working with health regulatory bodies is an asset

**EDUCATION**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or similar field is required; Master’s degree in a science field preferred.
- Experience in radiochemistry or chemistry work environment preferred.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**
- The position requires the incumbent to be trained as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW)
