**Five Star Building Services** is growing We are looking for an Area Manager.
Under the guidance and direction of the Operations Manager, the **Area Manager** oversees a portfolio of buildings, contracts, and other project services. The Area Manager organizes and leads operational activities by implementing Five Star standards, directing supervisors (and staff), and ensures the contracted services are delivered according to company budgets and parameters. This management role includes hiring, terminating, and resolving issues that occur with operations staff and other ad hoc responsibilities.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Management**:
- Oversee day-to-day operational activities of Supervisors, Janitorial Staff, and Caretakers.
- Conduct regular site visits to maintain cleanliness standards and conduct quality control inspections.
- Organize Supervisors' schedules to ensure consistent service delivery and quality control.
- Provide coaching and training to Supervisors as needed.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to implement new management and cleaning systems for continuous improvement.
- Monitor operational employees responsible for emergency coverage and liaise with Property Managers.
**Planning**:
- Coordinate with Supervisors to schedule weekly and weekend staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- Monitor staff absences and turnover to facilitate flexible coverage arrangements.
- Ensure inventory supplies are sufficient and equipment is well-maintained.
**Budgeting (Hours)**:
- Manage contract requirements and meet budgeted employment hours for each area.
- Identify project opportunities and make recommendations for additional services.
**Human Resources Duties**:
- Monitor staff performance, conduct performance appraisals, and enforce disciplinary measures as necessary.
- Utilize technology for staff training and development initiatives.
**Training**:
- Provide onsite training and orientation for supervisory staff.
- Coordinate new staff training and scheduling.
- Ensure proper backup and cross-training to facilitate coverage.
**Reporting**:
- Prepare and submit incident reports and operational schedules.
- Create documentation forms and building procedures for each contract.
- Submit regular operations reports for each building.
- Conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
**Relationship Building**:
- Cultivate relationships with subcontractors and potential clients.
- Represent Five Star professionally in meetings with clients and business associates.
- Attend strata meetings and other relevant functions as a company representative.
**Communication**:
- Conduct regular team briefings and communicate directives effectively.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Department to ensure accurate completion of timesheets.
- Maintain open communication channels with clients and address concerns promptly.
- Document all staff-related changes and communicate them appropriately.
**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Basic handyman skills required.
- Strong communication skills and customer service background.
- Experience in floor care and related project work is an asset.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and emergencies.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Understanding of provincial employment standards and relevant federal regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong work ethic and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and lead diverse teams effectively.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- Willingness to manage conflict and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to motivate employees towards business goals and objectives.
- Timely and accurate reporting skills.
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
