Pathology and Laboratory Medicine - LLS Specimen Receiving

Applications are invited for the position of Laboratory Assistant III in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine -Specimen Receiving Staffing Area. Duties include, but are not limited to specimen processing, packaging of specimens for transport, and data entry.

Regular Part - Time

Rate of Pay: $31.65 per hour - $36.18 per hour

Hours of work: Up to 45 hours bi-weekly

**Qualifications**:

- Certification as a Laboratory Assistant by OSMT or CSMLS
- Minimum of six (6) months previous laboratory experience
- Experience with front line automation is preferred
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods - Certification Preferred
- Excellent computer skills (Cerner preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory protocols and terminology
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
- Demonstrated technical problem solving skills
- Demonstrated effective organizational, multi-tasking and time management while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated strong conflict management skills
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
