Dynacare is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Specimen Processing team in London, Ontario. **This position is full-time 37.5 hours per week rotating day shifts, 7am-3pm/8am-4pm and afternoon shifts 3:00pm-11:00pm from Monday to Friday and occasional Saturdays.**

**How YOU will make a difference**:
The Specimen Processing Lab Assistant is responsible for processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions and/or results accurately and in a timely manner. Adhering to Company policies and all governing bodies guidelines.
- Responsible for handling specimens at point of delivery into the Department in an effective and timely manner.
- Process all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate area for testing
- conduct pre-sorting of samples and prepare for data entering and labeling.
- Data enter all patient and test information for MOH and private client requisitions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Verify the completeness of all requisitions and file related paperwork.
- pipetting samples when required.
- Handle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required.
- Process add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection.
- utilize problem solving skills when necessary, on problem samples/requestions.
- Follow all guidelines for the handling of infectious material
- Prepare specimens and documentation for reference testing
- Ensure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory
- May be responsible for follow-up on missing samples, documentation, results, etc.

**Must have**:

- ability to work a variety of shifts rotating between days and afternoons.
- strong data entry skills
- team player with the ability to work independently.
- Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent previous experience
- Strong specimen processing knowledge
- Ability to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task

**Nice to have**:

- OSMT certification an asset
- Previous Lab experience is an asset
- leadership qualities
