The Strategic Data, Analytics and Business Services (SDABS) Branch is responsible for the alignment of research efforts and processes across the ministry to ensure that research activity informs the ministry's strategic direction. It is also responsible for the business management of the enterprise business intelligence (BI) environment, providing analytical expertise to program areas and regions across Seniors, Community and Social Services, the development of enterprise information products and for supporting an evidence-based culture across the organization

This role is within the Strategic Services Division, Strategic Data Analytics and Business Services (SDABS) Branch. Within SDABS, this role is on the Business Intelligence (BI) team. The BI team serves the ministry by providing data and analytics services to inform policy and practice in the delivery of services to our clients.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, this position provides consultation and analysis for business intelligence and data services for Seniors, Community and Social Services. This position plays a key role in projects involving the development or enhancement of enterprise data warehouses, data marts, data models, information products and web-based portals to support program delivery within the ministry. The incumbent of this position gathers requirements from business areas, develops prototypes and storyboards to clarify requirements, develops process models that fit with business rules, works with business areas to define metadata and coordinates testing and oversees implementation.;
- Assess options for viability and cost effectiveness and recommend the most efficient solutions that meet business needs.
- Lead project teams in developing and implementing technical solutions.
- Identify the impact of new tools on staff and processes, and develop and implement change management strategies and procedures to minimize disruption to business processes.;
- Develop creative solutions to meet business needs
- Plan, organize and coordinate project teams developing and implementing solutions; Consult, facilitate and liaise with non-technical customers (to define system needs and requirements) and technical service providers; as well as project management skills are required in this position.Excellent communication and relationship building skills will help you succeed in this role as well as demonstrable analytical and critical thinking skills. Understanding how to query and analyze data, and verbally and visually communicate trends is essential. Additionally, developing a comprehensive understanding of our ministry’s programs is key in delivering value in this position.

**Qualifications**:
A related university degree with a a minimum of two years of directly related experience and in-depth knowledge of BI technologies and processes, including architecture and data modeling for data warehouses, data integration methods, data security, and software platforms used in BI are required.

Equivalencies may be considered. Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:

- Knowledge of databases, experience with SQL, and familiarity with tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), PowerBI, and SAS Visual Analytics.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
