Job Summary

A Brief Overview
The Housing and Ancillary Services team manages 4,859 student beds in 18 residence buildings, as well as off-campus rental apartment and housing properties, three dining halls, numerous retail foodservice locations on campus, the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre and Event Services. Residence buildings also provide temporary accommodations for the summer conference, events and tourism markets. Revenue and services from these units support vital student life programs and contribute to the University's learning environment.

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for repairs and routine maintenance of Community Housing units and for performing preventive maintenance. The majority of the work involves general maintenance for buildings that vary widely in size and layout. The Maintenance Worker must have a broad range of skills and be able to monitor and remedy problems, especially those that may involve the safety and operability of the units. The incumbent will also respond to requests for emergency maintenance outside of normal working hours and participate in the on-call process.

**Note**: The schedule for this position will require the incumbent to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends and to be available for Peak Turnover periods (April 30, May 1, August 31, September 1)
This position performs scheduled, corrective, and preventative maintenance on university-owned properties. This position triages and prioritizes work according to assigned work orders. This position identifies ongoing maintenance issues for corrective action. This position also maintains an inventory of supplies. The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work evenings and weekends.
**Job Description**:
What you will do
Performs scheduled, corrective, and preventative maintenance on university-owned properties.

Triages and prioritizes work according to assigned work orders.

Records ongoing maintenance issues and identifies possible solutions for corrective action.

Responds to and performs emergency maintenance, and contacts additional resources and/or contractors as required.

Performs lock changes, including pinning of the cylinder and key cutting.

Maintains inventory of supplies.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Secondary School Diploma. Required Experience
More than 1 year and up to and including 2 years of experience. Required Licenses and Certifications
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.

Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

G Driver's Licence required.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
