We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Manager to lead our efforts in managing the physician workforce. Join our dedicated team in the Physician Workforce Unit, where we focus on shaping and enhancing Alberta’s healthcare landscape. We are committed to developing innovative policies and programs that ensure a well-balanced and effective physician workforce to meet the needs of our diverse population.
**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director of Health Physician Workforce, the Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in Alberta by overseeing the development and coordination of policies and programs related to the supply, demand, distribution, regulation, use, and productivity of physicians.

**Policy and Program Management**:
- Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based policies and programs for the physician workforce.
- Manage physician workforce programs according to specific agreements, including maintaining program policies, developing grant agreements, and ensuring accountability for outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, addressing issues and recommending solutions to the Director.
- Provide strategic advice on program evolution, negotiations, and broader physician planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on payment, policy, legislation, and regulation issues.
**Integrated Issues Management**:
- Manage correspondence and briefings regarding physician recruitment and retention in Alberta.
- Lead the research and development of responses to complex inquiries.
- Promote effective communication and partnerships with internal and external clients for timely issues resolution.
**Branch Leadership and Organizational Excellence**:
- Supervise and support Physician Workforce Analysts, including task assignment, performance management, and professional development.
- Guide the planning and operations of the Physician Workforce team to achieve branch goals.
- Provide strategic analysis and advice on emerging issues and trends and contribute to cross-unit communication and collaboration.
