We are looking for a motivated Settlement Worker to join our Newcomers & Community Building Program team

**POSITION**:

- Settlement Worker, _5 months contract_

**POSITION FUNCTION**:
Under the supervision of Manager/Coordinator, Settlement Worker is responsible for providing direct client service and program delivery support for MOSAIC Newcomers and Community Building Program eligible clients in Metro Vancouver.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Organize group information/orientation workshops and community connection activities to match with client’s needs
- Develop partnership with Ukrainian communities to effectively connect with new immigrant families
- Perform data administration
- Attend team/organizational meetings/activities
- Support the Coordinator and Manager for ad hoc duties

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Have experience (2 or more years) in working with immigrant and refugee families
- Have experience (2 or more years) in social service; individual settlement counselling session, presentation, group facilitation and community outreach
- Experienced in establishing professional and confidential boundaries with clients;
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Humanities, Social Work or Counselling, and/or equivalent life experience;
- Fluent in **Ukrainian and Russian (speaking, listening, reading and writing)**;
- Be knowledgeable about experiences of immigrants and refugees;
- Be knowledgeable about the Canadian legal, political, cultural, labour, educational, and economic systems, relating to a specific ethno-cultural minority community and the community resources that are available for clients;
- Be empathetic, respectful, and discreet; able to remain tactful and patient during stressful situations.

**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Understanding of social justice issues in a community setting
- Strong knowledge of the settlement and integration process and issues
- Strong presentation and group facilitation skills
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills
- Knowledge of community resources
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Experience providing virtual service (1-1 and group)

**HOURS**:
**Part-time, 21 hours per week**

This is an in-office role. No remote work is offered.

**BENEFITS**:

- A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week_.
