**Qualifications**:

- Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate required
- CSMLS and/or OSMT certification required

**Skill, Ability and Experience**:

- Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
- Experience with Meditech preferred
- Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant preferred

**Principal Duties**:

- Perform Phlebotomies on In-Patients and Out-Patients following Quality Management System Processes and Procedures
- Responsible for accurate handling and separation of blood samples for various laboratories
- Performs Microbiology specimen set-up
- Performs Pathology duties within MLA scope of practice
- Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
- Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
- Other related duties as assigned
