Position: Diet Technician - Transplant Program
Site: Toronto General Hospital

Reports to: Manager
Scale/Grade: D0:03

**Salary**: $25.10 to $31.38 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week (Mon, Wed, Fri, 9am to 2pm)
Status: Temporary Part-Time (Approx. 18 months)

POSITION:
The responsibilities of the **Diet Technician** include: assisting the Clinical Dietitians in providing patient centered nutrition care. In addition, the Diet Technician performs a variety of activities to ensure the efficient and effective provision of nutrition care including educational and QA responsibilities, on-going communication with the supervising dietitian and other key players, including Nutrition Services, to ensure information is completed in a timely fashion. Applicants will be interviewed by the selection panel and will possess the qualifications listed below.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Completion of a Community College Diploma program in Food and Nutrition, or recognized equivalent
- Completion of a degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized university is preferred
- One year related experience is preferred
- Experience working in a teaching hospital environment is preferred
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting
- Completion of the written examination to obtain membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition management (C.S.N.M) is required within the first year of employment
- Therapeutic nutrition knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation and food allergies
- Knowledge of CBORD/Diet Office management and PDA system
- Computer literacy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills
- Very good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
- Ability to work effectively in a team-orientated environment
- Ability to focus on priorities
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Compliance with confidentiality
- Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, background and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
