**JOB DESCRIPTION - MUSEUM MANAGER**

Job Summary: Depending on the recommendations of the government and health officials in light of COVID-19, this position may be fulfilled remotely for any portion of the contract. A Vulnerable Sector Police Check will be required. References required.

**General Duties**: The Museum Manager will suggest planning and execution of exhibitions and programming at the Museum. Other duties include updating artifact databases, some clerical office duties, digitizing artifact records, and basic maintenance of the Museum and grounds. To assist in the day-to-day operations of Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead National Historic Site by providing public guided tours, care of collections and assistance with administrative tasks and light maintenance.

**Specific Responsibilities**:
On Site Duties: Reports to the President, President-Elect and FWIC/WI Canada Board
- General knowledge of the history of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada and the current Board of Directors is required
- When working on-site, the Museum Manager will provide excellent visitor experiences by conducting informative, friendly, and enthusiastic tours to the visiting public including individuals and groups of all ages as per the Interpreters Manual

Assist with tracking finances relating to admission fees, souvenir sales and rental fees
- Making bank deposits for the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead and FWIC/WI Canada when requested
- Picking up mail from the Post Office in St. George
- Assists any staff and/or volunteers with the administration of the museum
- Attend Health & Safety Instructions
- Be responsible for learning and practising the social distancing specifications as may be introduced from time to time by the Federal & Provincial Governments
- Perform transactions in the Gift Shop and/or special events using both cash and credit/debit reader
- Take a role in planning special events
- Taking a Teamwork approach, assists Volunteers with special programs e.g. Heritage Day
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude with volunteers
- Keep the Homestead clean and tidy; assists with daily museum duties including light dusting, maintaining the gardens etc.
- Protect premises and objects from theft or damage
- Perform opening and closing procedures according to protocols
- Maintains and assists with website, social media sites and WI Connection newsletter articles about the Homestead
- Be responsible for own transportation to and from the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead
- Assists in Youth Development Coordination (see Education Program & Event Coordination)
- Research support; assist with researching, planning and execution of exhibits
- Write brief articles for the Friends of Addie Newsletter
- Participate in regular and special meetings as required
- Work on accessioning the collection and entering it into the Past Perfect database
- Perform other duties related to the job as assigned

**Remote Duties and Responsibilities**:
Should it become necessary to work remotely due to Health Restrictions enforced by either the Federal or Provincial Governments, or any other unforeseen reasons the remote duties and responsibilities include the following:

- Assist with researching, planning and execution of exhibits and programming
- Maintain website and social media information
- Assist with collections management, including artifact cataloguing, storage and display
- Any other tasks as requested

**Specifications**
- Can work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Adaptable and flexible, able to reprioritize on short notice to meet program needs
- More task oriented and time oriented - able to go the extra mile on occasion
- Knowledge/experience in PastPerfect is an asset
- Digital skills are required for the recording of artifact information
