**The Role**
- Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Coordinator, Career Centre Programs is responsible for the overall coordination, planning, and facilitation of assigned programs at the Douglas College Career Centre. Programs include but are not limited to: Co-operative Education Program, PBD Leaders Employment Support Program, Steer Your Career Program and Ready Set Co-op.
- The Coordinator contributes to the College Strategic Plan by promoting Career Centre programs, internally and externally. This role is instrumental in, enabling students to act as ambassadors of the College, to continue to learn outside the classroom, and to find work experiences that are inspiring and relevant which will ultimately enhance their job seeking success once they have graduated. The Coordinator screens and prepares students for work terms and/or employment opportunities, and collaborates with the Director, Business Development to vet potential employers and work opportunities.
- The Coordinator provides exceptional client-centred service to all stakeholder groups which is critical to the College’s reputation for developing employment-ready students.**Responsibilities**

**1. Promotes Career Centre programs externally to employers, professional associations, and all levels of government**
a. researches and recommends to the Director of Business Development appropriate employer targets for student work terms and employment opportunities based on current labor market trends;
- b. evaluates employer suitability with regard to provincial and national Co-operative Education Program standards and Career Centre program objectives;
- c. posts employment opportunities on the Career Centre CRM, and/or DC Portal as appropriate;
- d. maintains regular contact with employers as required by assigned Career Centre programs;
- e. organizes and participates in a variety of on
- and off-site networking opportunities to promote Douglas College, its students and Career Centre programs;
- f. participates as an active member in related professional associations as part of professional development and to represent Douglas College in these organizations as requested. These may include CACEE (Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers), ACE (Association of Co-operative Education) and ACCE WIL (Accountability Council for Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning);
- g. represents Douglas College, its students and Career Centre programs on selected industry and community associations, as requested.
- **2. Designs and delivers program information sessions, career development workshops and program-related recruiting events**
a. delivers program information sessions regarding Career Centre Programs;
- b. designs, develops, and delivers pre-employment workshops on job sourcing and networking, occupational research & career pathing, transferable skill identification, cover letter & resume creation, interview techniques, negotiating job offers, workplace expectations, safety and human rights;
- d. researches work strategies, current employment tools and theories to share with students;
- e. assists students one-on-one in mastering their career development skills.
- b. updates and maintains all databases and records, including but not limited to employers’ contacts, student records, work term records, student grades, correspondence, student coaching sessions, and job postings using Banner and the Career Centre CRM system as required for assigned program;
- c. liaises with the Registrar’s Office to ensure all Co-op courses are entered into Banner and made available for students’ registration each term;
- d. updates content for student information leaflets/web pages, employer and faculty handbooks to ensure currency;
- e. identifies student deficiencies and recommends options or strategies to meet identified deficiencies;
- g. prepares the contracts and relevant documentation for Faculty Advisors for the Co-operative Education Program, as required;
- h. reviews Co-op work terms and/or employment opportunities to ensure they provide an experiential opportunity for students as mandated by the provincial accreditation body, Accountability Council of Cooperative Education - Work Integrated Learning (ACCE WIL), as required by program;
- i. maintains and reports statistical data to the provincial accreditation body, ACCE WIL;
- j. responds to and/or adjudicates complaints from students or employers regarding work terms or employment performance as appropriate;
