**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and coach a team of 6-12 project managers with various experience levels to successfully
track and deliver on a portfolio of Capital Projects and Programs.- The role will include drawing on internal and external multidisciplinary resources that include
Stakeholder Relations, Indigenous Relations, Engineering, Environment, Finance, Regulatory,
- Properties, Operations, Legal Counsel, Safety, etc. to successfully deliver on a large portfolio of
- Capital Projects.- Specific to the Interconnections team lead:
- The role will involve Customer Driven Transmission Load, Generator Interconnection and
- Major Distribution Interconnection projects throughout the Province.
- Maintain close relations with the Integrated Planning Interconnections Managers, Customer
- Service Key Account Managers, customers, and other stakeholders to anticipate and plan for
- upcoming projects and adjust in flight project priorities as required.- Participate with Integrated Planning in the process for the annual and quarterly release of
projects and ensure there are adequate internal and external project manager resources with the
- appropriate skill set to deliver projects.- Provide expert advice and support to team members in the planning and execution of their
projects to ensure there are adequate strategies, budgets and plans for resourcing, procurement,
- regulatory, safety management, environmental management, quality management, risk
- management, Indigenous Relations, stakeholder engagement, etc. as required for achieving
- schedule, cost and other required performance indicators.
- Actively promote and support the development of team members through regular feedback and
provide guidance and support for their personal development plans and year specific objectives.- Provide team leadership by collaborating with other Business Units and holding project teams
accountable for project results. Remove barriers to project level issues and resolves escalations
- concerning project or resourcing issues. Encourage a One-Hydro approach to teamwork by
- drawing on other’s successes and sharing best practices across BC Hydro.- Provide guidance on the PPM practice, project planning, supply chain strategies, problem
- solving and work smart opportunities.- Support PPM compliance across the portfolio and may act as a Project Independent Reviewer.
Ensures the quality of project documentation is aligned with the intent of the PPM Practice and
- reflective of the complexity and risks of the project.- Manage the flow and resourcing of staff and consultant project manager resources with the
appropriate skill level to deliver the projects in the capital plan for the portfolio.- Supports the project team and may lead high profile, sensitive and complex consultations and
hearings with customers, regulators, municipal and provincial government and crown
- corporations, interest groups, the public, and other stakeholders on a variety of issues of
- significant importance to BC Hydro.- Works with Project Services and Finance to ensure scheduling templates/processes and
financial setup for projects are up to date and align with applicable incentive programs.- Travel to meet with operations staff, construction management, First Nations and stakeholder
groups, in support of the project managers, during the planning, design and construction phases
- of a project.- Frequently represents BC Hydro as the “Contract Owner” or the “Hydro Rep” on construction or
equipment contracts. Support project teams to reduce BC Hydro’s exposure to contract claims
- and participate in contract and claim negotiations with suppliers and contractors.- Review and approve time and expense claims, leave and rotation requests, travel requests,
financial commitments and payments to FAAP limits.- Support the mentorship program as an active mentor and encourages mentoring relationships
amongst PD.- Regularly meet as a management team (with colleagues in the portfolio and other PD portfolios)
