SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Person who is responsible for one or more programs with a view to providing professional assistance for the development of services. She/he conducts research activities that are necessary for identifying and assessing needs and resources. She/he designs and proposes development plans and programs in order to ensure adequate service planning. She/he provides advice concerning the implementation or improvement of programs and/or services. She/he may participate in various teaching or training activities.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

The PPRO in the research team works in an interdisciplinary team responsible for managing research for the CBHSSJB. The incumbent supports the research office in activities that are necessary for ensuring all research projects are carried out in a culturally safe manner and respecting OCAP principles, these activities include:

- Planning, coordinating and supporting the approval process of research projects;
- Ensuring coherence between the different components of the research project, as well as the use of a methodological framework that is appropriate to the context;
- Ensuring all appropriate reviews are carried out (ethical, scientific, suitability, and cultural safety);
- Collaborating with partners to ensure cultural safety in research projects;
- Following research projects from inception to their conclusions, including termination procedures (e.g. data destruction once research activities are finished);
- Working with researchers to ensure adequate documentation is provided through the lifespan of the research project;
- Ensuring all the steps of the research process are conducted in collaboration with the Research Governance Committee (ethical approval, research agreement, knowledge transfer plan );
- Reviewing with researchers plans for knowledge translation and mobilization;
- Identifying and supporting the resolution of risks, issues and conflicts that may arise throughout a project;
- Planning, developing and leading research training and coaching;
- Representing CBHSSJB in internal committee work as well as external collaborative forums, liaising with universities, community partners, and/or in provincial or federal meetings as needed;
- Carrying out any other function at the request of the supervisor.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor of science, with specialization in health, social services, biology or a related field;
- Masters degree in a relevant filed (public health, epidemiology, anthropology, sociology, etc) as an asset

**Experience**:

- Three (3) years of relevant experience in research;
- Three (3) years of relevant experience working in Indigenous context.

Knowledge and Abilities:

- In-depth knowledge of OCAP principles and participatory research with Indigenous communities;
- In-depth knowledge of Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans;
- Good knowledge of research methodology, including qualitative and quantitative methods;
- Knowledge of the issues and context related to First Nations northern communities’ health and social life;
- Ability to integrate Eenou/Eeyou (Cree) culture, values, traditions and teachings into research projects;
- Demonstrated experience in managing different files simultaneously;
- Ability to build and maintain work relationships with investigators and stakeholders;
- Capacity to summarize complex projects and convey key messages;
- Ability to understand and draft formal documents;
- Excellent stakeholder management skills;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Excellent leadership and teamwork skills;
- Excellent critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;
- Ability to provide training is an asset;
LANGUAGE
- Fluent in English;
- Fluency in Cree and French is an asset.

OTHER
- Willing to travel regularly.

**Salary**: $27.08-$47.98 per hour
